The Cataclysm of Binary Star Systems — 603 Arts Foundation

A new foundation opened its account on August 8 by imagining the end of the sun. The Cataclysm of Binary Star Systems, the inaugural show from 603 Arts Foundation at Nunu Fine Art in SoHo, gathers twelve artists from nine countries across Asia, Latin America, and their diasporas — four showing in the US for the first time — around a premise borrowed from astrophysics: two stars close enough to strip each other of matter until nothing habitable is left. Founders Kate Lee and Clovis Lima Jr. are betting the foundation's first move on migration read as inheritance, not tragedy. On view through August 29.
