Denim Tears

Denim Tears
Denim Tears spent August teaching a lookbook to grieve properly. Tremaine Emory's Fall/Winter 2026 collection, previewed August 3 and shipping across five drops beginning August 14, rebuilds André Leon Talley's wardrobe piece by piece — a Billionaire Boys Club sweater Talley wore to New York Fashion Week in 2010, reconstructed alongside a Stüssy collaboration, a panther-print chino, and Denim Tears' own signature parka. The brand's whole method has always been this: clothing as an inheritance document rather than a costume. Talley died in 2022 at 73; the collection doesn't costume his death, it continues his argument — that Black taste-making deserves the same reverence white couture houses give their own dead. Models include Edward Buchanan and André Walker, both of whom actually knew him, which is the difference between a tribute and a séance. Emory has spent three years turning Denim Tears from a Levi's collaboration into a publishing house that happens to sell clothes; this is his most explicit thesis yet on who gets remembered, and who has to be re-remembered on purpose.
