LRNCE makes good things. Hand-painted ceramics, zellige, plaster, iron and wood, produced with workshops in and around Marrakech since 2013, the irregularities left in rather than sanded out. Decorex Africa named it Designer of the Year for 2026 and gave it both editions, Cape Town in June and Sandton from July 30 to August 2. The gap is that the credit stops at two names. Laurence Leenaert and Ayoub Boualam are the studio; the potters, the zellige cutters and the plasterers are “Moroccan artisans,” plural and unnamed, in every notice of the award. Come back when a collection ships with the workshops named on it.
