Chale Wote 2026

Chale Wote 2026
Jamestown and Osu are handed over from Monday, August 10 to Monday, August 17. The fifteenth Chale Wote runs on a schedule most institutions would not print: artists build the work on site between August 1 and 9, then show it for a week in the street. Entry is free and has been since 2011, when ACCRA [dot] ALT started it with Redd Kat Pictures and the Chale Wote Street Art Projekt. The name is Ga for friend, let's go, and it is also what Ghanaians call the rubber flip-flop, which settles who it was addressed to before anyone flew in. James Fort still stands at the water's edge, the harbor still works, and the murals from earlier years are permanent addresses now.
