Leilah Babirye — Embaga ya Naki ne Naki

Nothing here is polished. Babirye builds heads from carved wood and glazed clay, then dresses them in bicycle chain and inner tube. For the ICA she has cast an entire wedding party: bride, groom, ring bearer, flower girl, each given a role, watched over by charred-wood aunties and ancestors. Opens August 27, runs to January 18. Her first book comes with it.
