Karst — Tim Exile

Karst — Tim Exile
In April he shipped a modular system built on Reaktor. On July 28 he discontinued it and sold its replacement. Karst is Tim Exile leaving Native Instruments entirely: a node-based environment that autoconnects without cables, gives every instrument a generative DNA that passes clocks and triggers downstream, and folds composition and performance into the patching rather than treating them as the next step. He made the backers whole, which matters. What they got for it is version 0.1, browser-only, cloud-saved, at £69 against a £99 list, with the standalone and the plugin promised for the fourth quarter and new instruments arriving weekly. The instinct is right and the ledger is thin: two systems in four months, one of them already retired.
