Jiwe IO built the thing African developers had been asking for: a crowdfunding rail owned inside the scene, where a studio raises against a stated milestone instead of a vibe. Its first live campaign was Zawadi Games' Ma3 Simulator, a Nairobi matatu driving game, raising for two more buses and ten more routes. That specificity is the good part and it is rare. The timing is the problem, and it is not Jiwe's fault. Google Play's $1m Indie Games Fund for Africa closed applications on July 31. Supercell's first Developer Grants cohort closed on August 9, offering $20,000 to $200,000 equity-free with money landing in December. The capital, the platforms and the conference calendar have all arrived ahead of the shipped catalog they exist to fund. Come back in December, when Supercell names its three to five studios, and count what is actually on the shelf.
