Free The Youth × Air Jordan 16

Free The Youth × Air Jordan 16
Four friends started Free The Youth in Accra in 2014 to give Ghanaian creative work somewhere to be seen, and twelve years on they have put the national eagle on the shroud of an Air Jordan 16, a Wilson Smith III silhouette from 2001 that Jordan Brand has barely touched since. Part of the money goes to youth-led projects and grants for Accra designers. Then the arithmetic: pairs go up today at $255 through FTY’s own channels, wider on SNKRS on August 15, and a Free The Youth Air Jordan 3 is already booked for December. Two Jumpman silhouettes inside five months is a distribution deal doing the work a collection should be doing, and the attention is landing on the shroud rather than on the twelve years. Come back when the next object out of Accra is one they made end to end.
