YOSHITA 1967 — Anil Padia

Nairobi womenswear, and the first Kenyan label ever to reach the LVMH Prize final — 2,400 applicants cut to twenty at La Samaritaine, then to nine. Final is Sep 4 at the Fondation Louis Vuitton, jury stacked with Philo, Nigo, Anderson, Chiuri. Arnault's framing for this shortlist was craftsmanship, not novelty, which is the right read. The work is barely documented outside the shortlist itself — that thinness is both the find and the risk. Six weeks to see whether a Nairobi atelier gets the room on its own terms or gets absorbed by it.
